I happened to download a program on CNET and installed it on my Mac OS X. When I started Google Chrome or opened a new tab I saw the annoying “chrome-extension://icdlfehblmklkikfigmjhbmmpmkmpooj/newtab.html” in the URL.
This adware also changed the home page and search engine to Yahoo! and additionally installed the following extensions:

This rooting process was done on a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), and it should also work with other Android devices.
There are a few ways to root an Android on Mac. But this is how I do it.
Install Android SDK
First we need to download and install the Android SDK from here.
Now change to the directory where the file was downloaded and unzip it.

As a tech blogger sometime I have to edit screenshots to draw arrows on the images to illustrate the point. I know this can be easily done in Photoshop, but this feature is not available in the default installation of GIMP. So here’s how you can enable the arrow feature in GIMP.
Download the ‘arrow.scm‘ file from GIMP Plugins Registry
Once downloaded move it to your GIMP scripts folder.
